#322 - Eat yogurt out of a mayonnaise jar in public - DONE!

After receiving this suggestion from 3 different friends on completely separate occasions I decided I should add it to the list. It sounded unusual, but funny and right up my alley! My sister wanted to do this on her recent vacation and actually added more to it. She asked if we could also try gatoraide out of a windex bottle. We are such a silly pair!

The trip to the grocery store was awkward. I ended up with a jar of mayonnaise, a pint of vanilla yogurt, 1 light blue powerade & a bottle of windex in my basket. Once I got home I washed the windex bottle out over 5 times with soap & hot water but it still had the faint smell of cleaner...

The next morning I set everything up, threw our windex & mayonnaise bottles into a cooler & drove to a local outdoor mall to try it out! Unfortunately there weren't a lot of people there, but we stayed for a bit and had a few very confused onlookers. One gentleman watched me eating my "mayonnaise" curiously for a bit & chuckled before he walked away. Overall it was a success! Even if I did feel incredibly weird eating out of a mayonnaise jar!

#9 - Make a geyser with Mentos & Diet Coke - DONE!

This task was another sister pick. I was expecting this one to be epic, and I may have to try a more elaborate master plan in the future, because I was left slightly disappointed. I guess I was expecting something more like the youtube videos with 100+ bottles of Diet Coke... but I only got 2. With those bottles though, I wanted to see if there was a difference between the 1 liter and 2 liter bottle of Diet Coke. I also learned after the fact that there is a much better "drop" method to the Mentos than shove in as many as you can before the thing explodes, then run!!! So again, there may be a much more elaborate repeat of this.

That being said it was still cool to watch, and far more impressive in person than these pictures. Oh, and for the scientists our there the 2 liter bottle totally won.

#167 - Learn how to bake a pie - DONE!

I enjoy baking as much as the next person, but for some reason baking a pie has always seemed a very daunting task. But after watching "Pushing Daisies" (a super-fun quirky show that I enjoyed) I decided to put it on the list. Not sure why that show finally convinced me I could do it, but it did.

When my sister visited my this summer I asked her to pick some things off my list to do together and this was one of her top picks. We searched through some recipes, argued about what type of pie we wanted to make (I voted pumpkin but that was not a proper summer ingredient), and finally settled on apple pie. An american classic! We followed the recipe to the letter, but still ended up with more filling than could fit in the pie... we placed it in the oven and hoped for the best. The 45 minutes could not have gone by any slower, but finally we took it out, let it cool and dug in. It was delicious!!! It even got two thumbs up! From me and my sister at least ;)

This pie was super easy to make, you probably have all the ingredients in your house right now minus the apples. Here's the recipe if you would like to try it yourself, I highly recommend it!

Oh yeah, this just got official!

Sometimes people ask me about my life list, especially when I am checking off some of the more awkward items (check out #184 & #148). I usually explain what my life list is and they always ask me "what else do you have on your list"? I recommend that they check it out but can never seem to have an easy way to give them the website. Then it dawned on me, it's time to go official. What's official you ask? Business cards! So, here's what I will now be handing out to people interested in checking out my life list blog! Whatcha think?

#310 - Jump into a pool fully clothed - DONE!

What's the best thing about a heat wave? Well, usually nothing but if you think outside the box you can still have some fun! For example, when the temperature heated up to 113 this summer most people would run inside after a long day of working outside in the heat, but not this chick! Fortunately when the first heat wave of the summer hit I had just moved into a house with a pool. So when my roommate and I got home from work we set down our bags, grabbed a towel and a photographer and jumped in! It was the perfect end to a dusty, sweaty, hot day! And even better yet, it was on my life list! Even if I didn't realize it until a couple days later when a friend told me, so... ta-da!

#162 - Donate Blood - DONE!

Everybody is at least a little bit afraid of needles, no matter how much they deny it. But some things are just too important to avoid them. Your own health for example, and sometimes the health of others. Donating blood has always seemed slightly scary to me for some reason. I'm not sure if it's the blood itself, the needles, or something else but I have avoided it for years. But this year I decided that I was ready to donate! Maybe I've matured, or maybe it's just all the vampire shows on tv now but I located a local blood donation center & headed on over. It was actually much simpler than I thought it would be, plus they told me what blood type I am!

The whole process was very simple, the staff super nice, and it didn't even hurt! The nurse did say that I had a "high maintenance vein" because my donation took a little longer than normal. I dunno, I'm not the expert, she just said to hydrate more next time. Overall the whole thing was very simple, although I do recommend planning a relaxing afternoon of re-hydrating after your first donation. So the verdict? If you've ever thought about donating blood give it a shot! (pun totally intended)

#185 - Compete in a 5k - DONE!

Why run a simple 5k, when you can run one while being pelted with dye packets!!! For this challenge a friend and I created team "Awesome Sass" and decided to do a color run. We had an absolute blast! We started the course with white t-shirts and after 3.1 miles of running through groups of volunteers tossing colored dye packets (corn starch) and spraying dye on us we were technicolor! It was so much fun that after finishing we immediately started planning when we can do another one!

The color run was super fun and I highly recommend it to ANYBODY. You don't have to be a runner, there were people of all ages, shapes & sizes. Even strollers! Although I highly recommend bringing towels and a change of clothes for after the race... unless you enjoy tie-dye seats in your car! Here's the link to Color Me Rad's website, they are the original color run and have races across the country so check it out!
